It seems that the soccer world has more in store for Matteo Polisi as he sails from Langford to Burnaby, making his return to the TSS Rovers for the 2023 League1 BC Season.

Announced Wednesday, the North Star Shield winner is slated to join the reigning L1BC champs as he looks to jumpstart his pathway back to professional footy.

The Coquitlam native began showing promise within the Residency Programs of both the MLS’ Whitecaps and Portland Timbers years ago. Continuing on into collegiate circuit, his prowess – 36 goals in 52 games – made Polisi a standout on the pitch with his coach describing him as a “gifted goal-scorer”.

After three seasons with the SFU Red Leafs and as well as then-USL 2 side of the TSS Rovers, he signed with Pacific FC under Pa-Modou Kah. He enjoyed a sharp rookie season in purple, garnering twenty-two appearances and contributing three goals and one assist in the club’s title-winning campaign.

Despite his shining season, he struggled in his 2022 return with the Vancouver Island-side, failing to lock in significant minutes and contributing zero goals.

For 2023, Matteo makes his return to the revered Swangard Stadium as he joins the Pirates for their second season in League1 BC. There is a lot riding on this season too TSS as they look to replicate their success from last season while also hoping to be the first D3 side to make it out of the first round of the Canadian Championship, where Polisi is likely to square up against his brother in the opening round.

Matteo Polisi and the TSS Rovers kick-off their 2023 L1BC season with a four-game home stretch beginning on April 29th versus newcomers Harbourside FC.
