Valour Scoops York United Goalkeeper Eleias Himaras

Canadian Premier League side Valour FC has made an intra-league move for goalkeeper Eleias Himaras, who joins from York United on a one-year deal that includes an option for 2026.

The 22-year-old had served up twelve appearances for York United during his time with the club, though none of them came last season as he found himself stuck on the bench behind Thomas Vinscensini.

The 2023 CPL season saw the Greek-Canadian limited to two appearances amidst a meniscus surgery, but his twelve appearances overall saw him record a goals against average of 1.3.

The London, Ontario native had been a standout performer in League1 Ontario circles with Electric City FC and had suited up for both TFC2 and Canada at the U-17 level previously.

“Eleias is a talented young Goalkeeper. We are excited to see him grow in our environment,” said Valour head coach Phillip Dos Santos, who’s own signing for 2025 hasn’t been formally confirmed.

“He’s a solid guy, very determined to succeed. I believe he’s ready for the next step, he will compete for a regular spot in the squad, this will be healthy for the team and will push Jono to be at his best as well.“

With Jonathan Viscosi‘s option having been picked up, it looks like Darlington Murasiranwa is likely be en route elsewhere following his spell in Winnipeg.

Valour has found good value in former Nine Stripes player, with Tass Mourdoukoutas and Jordan Faria both proving strong additions last year.

Himaras isn’t the only intra-league movement from York United, with Mo Babouli and Brian Wright both training with Forge FC.
