Valour End Of Season Roster Update Suggests Big Changes Incoming

By on December 3, 2024 0 1620 Views

Canadian Premier League club Valour FC is in a flexible position at its end-of-season roster update, with only five players locked in for 2025 with a further nine on club options.

It also remains to be seen if head coach Phil Dos Santos will still leads the side come next year

The Winnipeg-based side has confirmed that it has no defenders guaranteed for next season, with midfielders Diogo Ressurreicao, Safwane Mlah, and Zachary Sukunda set to return along with forwards Shaan Hundal and Kian Williams.

Both Ressurreicao and Mlah had their 2025 options automatically triggered based on performance metrics hit this season. The return of Kian Williams, who was a club start in 2023 but missed this season, will also be a big boost.

The club has until the end of the year to decide it will activate club options on goalkeeper Jonathan Viscosi, defenders Roberto Alarcon and Themi Antonoglou, midfielders Dante Campbell, Jordan Faria, and club captain Raphael Ohin, and forwards Abdul Binate, Loic Kwemi, and Jordan Swibel.

Former TFC full-back Antonoglou was a defender of the year nominee and should certainly have his option activated. Aussie forward Swibel also finished with seven goals – tied for team first – with Campbell proving a strong and versatile presence for the club.

The club remains in negotiations with key defender Tass Mourdoukoutas along with midfielders Marcello Polisi and Juan Pablo Sanchez, and goalkeeper Darlington Murasiranwa. Their contracts all collectively expire at the end of the year.

Valour has declined its club options on defenders Charalampos Chantzopoulos and Jordan Haynes, along with Yukon Territories midfielder Joe Hanson.

Atletico Ottawa loanee Noah Verhoeven’s stint in Winnipeg has also wrapped up, with U SPORTS addition Gianfranco Facchineri’s deal also concluding – though Valour retained his U SPORTS rights for 2025

Valour says it will release further roster news in the coming weeks.
