Ulloa Returns To Valour On Permanent Deal
Canadian-Peruvian forward Jared Ulloa is heading back to Winnipeg once again.
The 20-year-old forward has been unveiled as Valour FC’s newest addition, having most recently plied his trade in a title-winning campaign for Cusco FC in Peru’s second tier.
Ulloa made eighteen apeparances for Cusco as the side lifted the league title last year, earning promotion to the top flight in a slim one point victory for the regular season title.
“He’s young player still with a good margin to progress. He’s dynamic, he’s deceptive, he can threaten with the ball at his feet but is also quick attacking the space,” Valour head coach Phillip Dos Santos recently told Ed Tait. “He’s someone that needs to grow in the final third, in his final action, but when he gets separation, he’s going to put a ball in and try and create something.”
Born in Peru, Ulloa’s youth career saw him progress through the ranks with Sporting Cristal, where he became proven goalscorer on the wings before turning professional with the first team.
Ulloa had joined Valour FC on loan from Sporting Cristal for the 2021 Canadian Premier League season, making 23 appearances and registering one assist. When Valour sacked Rob Gale and brought in Philip Dos Santos, the youngster continued to get good minutes until an injury sidelined him at the end of the campaign.
The club had tried to bring him back in on loan last season, ultimately bringing in Daniel Ascanio when Ulloa was deemed unavailable. That may have proven to be a blessing in disguise, with Ulloa now arriving on a high after a title-winning campaign.
His second stint at IG Field will see him compete for minutes with a few other fresh faces in camp, like Pacifique Niyongabire and Kian Williams.

“Now we’re starting to feel a lot more comfortable when it comes to our attacking pieces,” adds Dos Santos.
Born in Peru but holding a Canadian passport, Ulloa will count as a domestic U-21 player for the 2023 Canadian Premier League season. The club has signed three others in that category, with Matteo de Brienne returning and both Eskander Mzoughi and Juan Pablo Sanchez recently signing.
The full contract details of Ulloa’s move to Valour FC were not disclosed by the club.
