Kelsey Egwu Returns To CPL Via Valour Loan
Canadian Premier League side Valour FC is bringing former Eddies defender Kelsey Egwu back to Canada, on loan from Estonian top flight side JK Narva Trans.
The 21-year-old will spend the season at Princess Auto Stadium.
If the name sounds familiar to CPL familiars, that’s because he made his professional debut for FC Edmonton back in 2022, playing a full ninety against Pacific whilst on a developmental deal.
The six-foot-four defender carved out a lot more minutes in Estonia’s top flight, where he made 37 appearances last season for about 2,500 minutes of total game time. His side finished sixth, separated from a top half finish by goal differential.
His move abroad came after the defender spent a season in League1 Ontario with FC London, featuring in every single game for them before training with Toronto FC II after the L1O season wrapped.

Valour boss Phillip Dos Santos says he’s been watching the defender over the past few seasons, describing the tall defender as a player with undeniable qualities.
“He’s extremely athletic, very comfortable with both feet and has a great mentality,” says Dos Santos, who’s own new deal with Valour was announced just last month. “Kelsey grew a lot over the past season playing first team football in Estonia. He’s a brave and determined young man. He will add quality and depth to our back line.”
The defensive line in Winnipeg is changing shape for 2025, with Tass Mourdoukoutas having signed with A-League side Perth Glory, while Valour secured the sizeable return of Rocco Romeo in his stead.
Egwu’s Estonian side has brought in a new Canadian reinforcement, with former Halifax Wanderer Cristian Campagna signing on with the team.
