Valour FC Signs English Forward Kian Williams
Exactly one week after we reported that English midfielder Kian Williams might be en route to Valour, the Winnipeg-based side has made it official.
The 22-year-old joins the setup at IG Field after spending the last three seasons with Icelandic top flight side Keflavik, for whom he procured thirteen goals in 64 appearances, with five of those goals coming over the last year.
His introduction to Iceland came through a lower division side called Magna four seasons ago, before which he had developed through hometown side Leicester City at the U-18 and U-21 levels with loans to non-league sides Barwell FC and Stratford Town.
The Winnipeg-based has looked closer to home to shore up its defensive lines, but it’s no secret that head coach Phil Dos Santos likes to look international for attacking talent. Earlier this week, the team also brought in Burundian-Australian forward Pacifique Niyongabire.
The club host open trials at the end of January. Only Matteo de Brienne will contribute domestic U-21 options on the current roster, so the club will have to shift focus to some domestic recruitment soon.
The length or financial terms of Kian’s contract were not disclosed by Valour FC.
