Williams Nets Contract Extension With Valour

One of Valour’s most potent players from the previous season had signed a contract expectation that will keep him in Winnipeg through the 2025 Canadian Premier League season.

The English forward had arrived to the club season, with his debut CPL campaign seeing him tally four goals and five assists in 24 appearances under Phillip Dos Santos.

While the club endured a difficult season, it’s fair to say that Williams was one of the bright sparks – and if the strikers can start tallying goals, his creativity up top could lead to more joy at Princess Auto Stadium in the next two years.

“We’re very happy to extend Kian’s contract through the 2025 season,” adds club boss Phillip Dos Santos. “Kian is an important piece who was our most productive offensive producer last season, and we see in him the potential to grow and produce even more. Above all, he’s a top human being with exceptional mentality.”

Dos Santos has primarily used Williams as a left winger, though the versatile attacker can also play centrally and out on the right, too.

Last season also saw the club bring in Burundian attacker Pacifique Niyongabire, who was sold to USL Championship side Tampa Bay Rowdies last month.

Kian’s own time in Winnipeg was preceded by three seasons in Iceland’s top flight with Keflavik, for whom he procured thirteen goals in 64 appearances. He also played for lower division Iceland time Magna before that, prior which he developed with hometown side Leicester City at the U-18 and U-21 levels, also embarking on loans to non-league sides Barwell FC and Stratford Town.

The Valour squad around Kian has new faces aplenty after a hefty roster overhaul: at the time of writing, there are eleven new faces in preseason camp with him who are confirmed for the upcoming season.
