Valour Heading West For Preseason
Valour FC is heading west for the late stage of its preseason preparations to take on three other CPL teams.
Head coach Phillip Dos Santos will lead his Winnipeg-based crew through matches against Vancouver FC (March 18) and Pacific FC (March 22) in BC, with a third match against Cavalry FC on April 3 coming ahead of the team’s fifth-ever season.
The Canadian Premier League team went out west to Victoria last year, where it suited up against the likes of Pacific FC and York United ahead of Phillip Dos Santos’ first full season at the helm.
It’s a much-transformed Valour FC side that will embark on another trip westwards this year, with players like Jordan Haynes, Abdou Samake, and Anthony Novak all set to square up against their former teams in preseaosn camp.
With no less than thirteen new faces on the roster so far, Valour’s preseason voyage will be a much-needed opportunity for the squad to gel in a competitive environment.
The club is entering its fifth Canadian Premier League season having yet to reach the playoff stage. With Valour immediately pitting itself a trio of teams it’ll face in league action, it’ll be a good litmus test for how the early stage of the CPL season might go – and what adjustments Dos Santos might need to make ahead of that time.

Intra-league games are like the preseason version of close-quarters fighting: dangerous for both opponents, as there’ll be very few secrets between them in the regular season. It should make for some carefully chosen coaching decisions this summer!
