Vancouver FC Releases ‘Cherry Blossom’ Alternative Kit

On Wednesday morning and inspired by the annual spring-time phenomena, Vancouver FC released its pink alternative kit that boasts a cascade of cherry blossom petals.

“I am so honoured to present Vancouver’s Cherry Blossom Kit for the 2024 season,” said Stephanie Wood, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of Vancouver FC.

The pink colours may come as a surprise for many as it is not a colour that is associated with Vancouver FC, but it is an intentional switch: the pink scheme is a collaboration with the Pink Shirt Day campaign, an initiative raises awareness of bullying in schools, workplaces and online.

“As a club that prides itself on putting the betterment of the community at the forefront of our mission, it was incredibly important to use our Cherry Blossom Kit as an opportunity to give back,” adds Wood on the collaboration. “Designing our own Pink Shirt, which was inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and contributing to the Pink Shirt Campaign was an obvious choice.”

Vancouver FC also announced that they will donate a portion of the proceeds from each Cherry Blossom shirt sold to the Pink Shirt Day campaign.

“No one is immune to bullying, including our own club and players,” said Wood in the kit’s press release. “It is an issue that transcends soccer, and the Pink Shirt Day campaign is a movement we are proud to support both on the field in our Cherry Blossom Kit and off of it.”

Vancouver FC becomes the seventh club to release both kits ahead of the start of the CPL season, with Valour, as the last club, scheduling its own kit release for this Thursday.
