James Cameron Shipping Out? There’s Big Interest In VFC Youngster
According to Deming, Cameron has turned quite a few heads following the 18-year-old’s debut campaign in the Canadian Premier League: he’s reportedly received interest from the first teams of MLS clubs Columbus Crew and DC United, but also from other European suitors like FC Copenhagen, Everton, and Motherwell, too.
Despite his young age, the North Vancouver native stepped into a starting role with Vancouver FC, with the defender only missing one match since his professional debut on June 11, 2023.
The full-back has been present for every club win amongst the team’s inaugural season, leading the team in both tackles won per game and duals won, too. His performances earned him a nomination for Best Canadian U-21 Player, though he missed the awards show to trial with Luton Town, amongst others.
Several of the young bucks at Vancouver FC have attracted significant interest following the club’s inaugural campaign, with Lennon Thompson landing with the Hearts reserve side while 16-year-old TJ Tahid tests himself with Feyenoord.
Deming repots that Cameron’s potential move away from Langley could come as soon this month, though given that he’s currently under contract any of the interested sides would have to compensate Vancouver FC for his services.
