Wanderers Terminate Deal With USL Veteran Christian Volesky

It was only two days we had posited that Christianv Volesky’s time with the Halifax Wanderers could be coming to a premature end, and now it’s official: the two parties have reached a mutual termination of contract.

Volesky had failed to find the net in seven appearances for the Wanderers, finding himself quickly dropped from a starter to a substitute, having last featured nearly two months ago and finding himself sidelined by a wrist injury.

It was a surprisingly short trip north of the border for the 31-year-old veteran, who produced 67 goals and 23 assists during his time in the USL Championship.

“We’d like to thank Christian for his contribution and professionalism during his time in Halifax,” said sporting director Matt Fegan. “We wish him all the best in the next steps of his career.”

We’d guess that a return to US football is next on the agenda for Volesky, who has played in Tucson, Rochester, Saint Louis, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh, Colorado Springs, and most recently Monterey Bay, where he played alongside former Wanderer Morey Doner.

The Henderson, Nevada native had tallied 18 goals and 10 assists through two seasons Monterey Bay, so we don’t think he will remain a free agent for long.

The Halifax Wanderers are currently led in scoring by centre-back Dan Nimick, who has six goals in league play this season.
