Udoka Chima Returns To England With Worthing FC
National League South side Worthing FC has announced the signing of former Cavalry centre-back Udoka Chima.
The 21-year-old centre-back had made thirteen appearances in the opening half of the CPL season, but found himself locked outside of the Cavalry team-sheet from July onwards.
The six-foot-three defender had mutually terminated his contract with the CPL side following their regular season championship win that came despite the fact that he didn’t quite hit the heights they’d hoped for after an extensive scouting process.
Chima, who was born in England, is a product of the Burnley FC Academy who signed with Scottish League One side Queen of the South in 2021.
Given that he’s also a Nigerian youth international, he’ll be hoping that his time in the National League South will prove to be a springboard back up greater heights rather than a permanent stop.
The club currently rest in sixth place after finishing fourth last season.
Back in Canada, Cavalry is poised to march into the 2024 CPL season with most of its roster carrying over, though a few players remain on expiring contracts while the likes of Robert Alarcon and Gareth Smith-Doyle had their options declined.
