Toronto FC II goalkeeper Adisa De Rosario is set for his second loan spell in the Canadian Premier League, this time joining his brother Osaze at York United.

The move comes as Nine Stripes second string Eleias Himaras recovers from a meniscal surgery which will keep him out till September. In the meantime, De Rosario is expected to get a run of matches to help York United catch up on its required domestic youth minutes.

“Adisa is a talented young keeper who we feel can come in and contribute right away,” says York United President Angus McNab.

“While we expect Elias to return from injury in September, we obviously had a need to keep the goalkeeping group competitive. We feel Adisa has the necessary experience to keep pushing both Niko Giantsopoulos and Michael Williams, who will remain with our squad and train as part of our development roster.”

The 18-year-old MLS NEXT Pro prospect has made three starts for TFC2 this season, having secured a rise up from the TFC Academy and having been called up for a Canada U-20 camp ahead of the Concacaf U-20 Championship, too.

He joined the Halifax Wanderers on a developmental deal last season, riding the bench five teams before making his professional debut in a one-nil loss to Forge FC.

It’ll be quite a sight to see both Osaze and Adisa play on the same team at the same time, particularly if it’s a home match with Canadian soccer icon Dwayne De Rosario in attendance.

York United needs to hand an average of 145 minutes per match to Canadian U-21 players to hit the league’s mandated 2,000 marker by the end of the season, with failure to do so meaning an automatic disqualification from playoffs. The team recently locked in Trivine Esprit through to the end of the season through an extension of his U SPORTS deal, while Carson Buschman-Dormond arrived from Switzerland.

Adisa will join the team in Ottawa after travelling back with TFC2 from Columbus, suggesting he’ll be made available for the matchday rroster.
