Adonijah Reid Is The Newest Nine Stripe

The first brand new York United signing for the 2025 CPL season is making way from Vancouver Isle, with Pacific attacker Adonijah Reid signing on a one-year deal with a club option for 2026.

The 25-year-old Brampton forward has made fifty-one appearances for the Tridents over the last two seasons, racking up five goals and eight assists in that time.

The move marks Reid’s first time playing club football with a home team in Ontario since 2018, when he was loaned to the Ottawa Fury.

“It’s like I haven’t been home in forever,” says Reid. “I’ve played a lot of my football in different parts of the world and throughout this country too. I’m really happy to finally get to play at home in front of friends and family.”

Reid’s ambitions in the hometown move comes with championship aspirations, with the forward saying he wants to hit the ground running for York United’s second full season under the Pasquels.

Before his CPL chapter began, the forward had spent two season with Miami FC in the USL Champsionshp, talying three goals and four assists in 25 appearances for the side and helping them reach the playoff qualification stage.

Reid proved to have an eye for goal at the age of just sixteen, scoring 20 goals in 20 appearances for League1 Ontario side ANB Futbol. Turning heads aplenty at the time, he trialed with the likes of Nice and Olympique Lyonnais before joining the inaugural Generation Adidas Canada class for the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.

Reid was selected by FC Dallas that year, undergoing a loan to the Ottawa Fury and establishing himself as a young talent with a high ceiling. After contributing five goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, he left the Fury to sign with French Ligue 2 side Le Havre AC, where his minutes were limited before his North American return through Miami.

York United bounced his former side Pacific out of playoffs last season, with Reid saying he feels the club is moving in the right direction under new ownership.

“Adonijah is a dynamic attacker and an exciting arrival,” adds Ricardo Pasquel. “He is someone we earmarked early on as a target so we’re very happy to get the deal done. He’s always a threat and his numbers speak for themselves. We feel he will contribute enormously to the upcoming season and we’re delighted to bring him home.”

The club’s co-owner teases that the club is thrilled with the deals it has clinched behind the scenes, stating that further signing news will be coming in thick and fast. Ricardo had said most of the squad from last season will be moving on, and that looks to include key attackers Brian Wright and Mo Babouli, with goalkeeper Eleias Himaras moving to Valour today.
