York United Youth Injection: Nine Stripes Announce Three Additions
Canadian Premier League side York United has announced the addition of three new domestic U-21 players, one of whom arrives on a standard pro contract: wing-back Kadin Martin-Pereux.
The 20-year-old has inked a short-term deal that runs through to the end of the year, though the Nine Stripes have a club option for another year should all things go well.
Kadin Martin-Pereux arrives from Regionalliga West west side SC Paderborn 07 II, where he’s been since 2021. The club’s latest campaign saw the wing-back accrue an impressive seven goals through 29 appearances highlighted by a 15 minute hat-trick against Delbrucker SC.
Prior to his stint abroad, the BC-born youngster developed with the Victoria Highlanders, who presently find themselves as one of the top sides in League1 BC.
“Kadin has been training with us for a while and has impressed the staff,” states Club President says Angus McNab. He’s a great option for us in the last few games and we retain an option on him for 2024 as well.”
The club remains in need of domestic U-21 minutes aplenty to reach the league-mandated minimum of 2,000 by season’s end, though the likes of Noah Abatneh, Trivine Esprit, and Adisa De Rosario (among others) have helped catch up of late.
York United confirmed the loan departure of Michael Petrasso earlier today, with the club set to be back in action this Friday against Valour.
