Au Revoir Alou: Dutch Midfielder Departs York United
When York United announced its loan of Adisa De Rosario last night, tucked into the bottom of the article was a quiet confirmation that Dutch midfielder Oussama Alou had left the club following the mutual termination of his contract.
The 21-year-old Dutchman had been a frequent feature under Martin Nash since arriving from FC Utrecht, making 18 appearances and four goal contributions across all competitions.
Alou’s last appearance saw him embark on an added time swan song against Valour FC two weeks ago, with a club official stating that the Nine Stripes agreed to terminate his contract after a discussion regarding his wishes to the return to the Netherlands.
The Dutch invasion at York Lions Stadium seems to have dissipated, with Lassana Faye having been transfered to FC Telstar in June.
York United has exclusively brought in young Canadian reinforcements in the midseason transfer window, adding Carson Buschman-Dormond, Adisa De Rosario on loan, and Trivine Esprit for the full season in a bid to bank some much-needed domestic youth minutes.
Oussama Alou had looked sharp at the Canadian Premier League level, though he was one of five players who opted out of donning the club’s Pride Night kit in a home victory over Atletico Ottawa.
His original deal had been a one-year that included club options through to 2025, though that was all-torn up ahead of his departure.
York United will be back in action tonight against Atletico Ottawa.
