Forge 1-1 Cavalry: Chances Go Abegging In Draw

By on June 1, 2025 0 1824 Views

In a game with many opportunities, Forge and Cavalry had to settle for a point in the most recent instalment of their rivalry.

A first-half goal from each side saw the match end 1-1 at Hamilton Stadium.

Forge had just one change in their eleven from last weekend’s 1-0 victory at Pacific. Hoce Massunda cameinto the team, replacing Keito Lipovschek. Seeing that there are still a few key players fit for the Hammers, it is unsurprising that there are so few changes.

As for Cavalry, they had two players come into the side following their 4-0 victory over Valour last time out. Mihail Ghersaimencov and Ali Musse started ahead of Tom Field and Jay Herdman.

It did not take long for the guests to go in front. In fact, it was a mere 75 seconds. Fraser Aird was afforded enough space on the right wing to get his cross in. The ball fell to Sergio Camargo, who blasted his attempt past Jassem Koleilat to give the Cavs the opening goal.

Forge looked out of sorts in the opening exchanges, but Cavalry had another opportunity about 10 minutes later. After failing to clear their lines, the hosts gave up the ball, giving Musse a chance outside of the box. But, it went over the bar.

After that, the chances started to flow for Forge. Kyle Bekker was afforded enough space to have a go from distance. However, Marco Carducci was equal to it, tipping it onto the post.

A moment later, the Hammers tied things up. Massunda did well to keep the ball in as he found Nana Ampomah, who finished the attack.

Midway through the opening half, Forge had their best chance to take the lead. On a counter attack, Massunda slipped in Brian Wright, who went one-on-one with Carducci. However, the Cavalry captain won this one, getting down to deny the striker.

Just before the half, Wright had another opportunity, albeit a more difficult one. Getting close to the by-line, he tries to sneak one past Carducci. That did not work, as the Cavs keeper once again was equal to it.

The second half saw less clear-cut chances. Both teams had just one shot on target. However, Mo Babouli had a decent chance towards the end. Ampomah clipped a deep cross to the attacking midfielder, but his acrobatic effort goes wide.

Both sides are on 14 points from eight matches, with the Hammers still unbeaten. Interestingly, it was the 12th straight regular season match where the away side failed to win.

Forge returns to the field next Sunday to host the Halifax Wanderers in a key match for the two clubs. As for the Cavs, they also play next Sunday, with York United heading to Spruce Meadows for that clash.
