AFC Toronto Heads On The Road For Two Games Out West

By on June 11, 2025 0 1434 Views

AFC Toronto is back in action just a few days after its 4-0 defeat at home to Ottawa Rapid FC.

The NSL side is heading on a two-game trip out west, starting with today’s evening-time matchup against the Vancouver Rise at Swangard Stadium.

This is the second meeting between the two sides. The first one was back at York Lions Stadium on May 11 and ended in a 1-1 draw, when Rise FC player and Mississauga native Jessica De Filippo headed home the equalizing goal from a corner kick in the final seconds of injury time.

The second matchup between the two sides comes at a time in which both teams will be on the hunt to bounce back in form. The Rise lost out 2-0 against the Montreal Roses in their last matchup, and AFC Toronto left home on a tough loss in the Battle of Ontario – so both sides will be desperate to grab all three points.

To add more pressure to proceedings, the league standings are tight with the halfway point approaching. The Rise currently sit in fourth place, just one point above Toronto as we head into into week nine of the Northern Super League.

Following the Wednesday matchup in BC, AFC will travel to Calgary for a Saturday matchup against the Calgary Wild FC.

AFC Toronto recently saw the return of forward Jade Kovacevic, the NSL’s first-ever signing, who will be hoping to earn more minutes through the road trip.

Up first tonight, however, dans can catch the action with the Vancouver Rise FC and AFC Toronto at Swangard Stadium on Wednesday, June 11 at 10PM EST.
