Football in Canada will forever change over the next month as the sport’s biggest tournament heads over to North America. Before that, however, Premier Soccer Leagues Canada continues with a season full of excitement and drama.
The country’s pro-am leagues have consistently delivered with many games with twists and turns. Northern Tribune has you covered with everything that takes place with our week-to-week roundups. This article covers the men’s leagues, but if you are looking for the women’s report, that can be found here.
BC Premier League: Top Two Grab Wins
We start on the West Coast, where a full round of play occurred in the BC Premier League. On Friday, Vancouver Whitecaps Academy topped Altitude 4-2 away thanks to goals from four different players. League leader Langley United grabbed the other win on the night, edging Kamloops United 2-1 despite going down to nine men.
Saturday’s lone game ended 4-2 in Nanaimo United’s favour as they defeated Unity. The away team came from two goals down to come out on top. TSS Rovers won the other match of the round, with Massud Habibullah’s goal two minutes in being enough for them to get past Burnaby FC 1-0.

Langley and TSS are still the top two teams in that order with four games left. The Nanaimo jumped up two places thanks to their win, while Kamloops could not make the most of their numerical advantage, leaving them still without a win.
The big game of the week will be on Thursday, which could decide the title as Langley United and TSS Rovers square off at Langley Events Centre. Friday has the other two games of the week between Altitude and Burnaby, and Kamloops and Unity.
Alberta Premier League: Foothills Score For Fun
In all four Alberta Premier League games for the week, both sides managed to score. Still, there were some one-sided results. That was particularly the case on Tuesday, when the Calgary Foothills topped Calgary Villains 9-1 at the Villains Dome. Fraser Aird led the scoring with a hattrick as the Foothills scored seven times in the first half.
It was a similar thing on Friday for the Foothills, who prevailed 5-1 at home to St. Albert Impact. Chanan Chanda’s first half brace sent the hosts on their way. BTB Academy edged Callies United 2-1 in their game, with Calgary Blizzard winning by the same score over Cavalry II.

It is a three-horse race in Alberta, with the Foothills and Blizzard leading the way. BTB also has 15 points, having played a game more. Only the Calgary Rangers awaits their first win of the year.
Speaking of the Rangers, they will get their chance to get off the mark on Tuesday at home to the Calgary Villains. If that fails, they have another chance on Friday against Cavalry II. Elsewhere, the Foothills and BTB face off in the game of the week, while the Rangers takes on St. Albert.
Prairies Premier League: Queen’s City Reigns Supreme
Just one game occurred in the Prairies Premier League over the last week in an all-Saskatchewan affair. At SMF Field, QC United got the better of Sask Excel Academy 3-1. Despite the loss, Sask Excel remains top of the league, though they have played two more games than the next most. As for Queen’s City, they stay in fifth as they join FC Manitoba on four points.
One of the busiest weeks of the season occurs next week with five games. Forza Academy returns to the field with an away game to Bonivital. Also on Friday, FC Manitoba and QC United face off.
