CF Montreal Faces Must-Win Match Against Portland
After managing a last-minute draw against the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday night at Saputo Stadium they are now in a must-win situation against their Western Conference opponents.
“You don’t need to say much,” Hernan Losada responded Thursday morning when asked about motivating his players for the final two games of the regular season.
“You look at the standings and you see anything is possible. I think the players have given their all during the entire season, we suffered injuries and many changes, and they always reacted well.”
CF Montreal will be playing their final home game of the regular season, and once again it will be crucial to get three points to keep their playoff hopes alive.
“We will give it our all. We will play to win in front of our fans and I hope our efforts will pay off in the end.”
Losada was asked to give his scouting report on the Portland Timbers who, like the Houston Dynamo, don’t have an amazing record on the road but are currently ranked 7th in the West.
“They have lots of individual quality and are physically very aggressive and are unbeaten in seven games…and also in a playoff push, so there are no easy games.”
Mathieu Choiniere was also asked about the playoff push and gave his sense of why he still believes his team can make it.
“We are still currently in a playoff spot,” Choiniere answered. “We still have games to play and the next one is at home so we have a possibility of six points and it’s in our hands and we need good results.”
Samuel Piette gave his thoughts on the upcoming game against Portland and believes the team is in a good spot.
“We still have this massive opportunity and a big game on Saturday, so we want to go get those three points.”
