Ampomah Inks New Multi-Year Forge Deal
Canadian Premier League heavyweight Forge FC has confirmed the retention of forward Nana Ampomah on a new multi-year arrangement.
For the moment, the full structure of the contract has yet to be confirmed. Forge has described one-year deals with club options for further seasons as ‘multi-year deals’ in the past.
The 2026 Canadian Premier League will be the Ghanaian’s third in Hamilton – and once completed, he will count as a domestic athlete under league roster rules introduced earlier this year. Since his arrival two years ago, his forward efforts have rewarded him with nine goals and eight assists through 46 appearances, while his feisty tenacity has landed him 17 yellow cards as well.
Ampomah has matched the lofty expectations awarded to him after arriving from German side Fortuna Dusseldorf, where he tallied 18 first team appearances – including 12 in the country’s top flight – while also featuring for Dusseldorf’s reserves.
“Nana has been an important part of our attacking group since joining the club,” reflects Forge FC head coach and sporting director Bobby Smyrniotis. “He brings experience and a consistent attacking presence in the final third, and we’re pleased to have him continue with us.”
Ampomah has made four appearances for Ghana, with his German spell preceded by four seasons in Belgium with Waasland-Beveren and a professional start with FC Brabo Bravo back in his home country.
Dusselford had also loaned him to Belgian side Royal Antwerp, where Ampomah was a regular through 24 appearances, seven of which came in the Europa League. However, had viewed his time on Antwerp with regret, having been unable to establish himself back in Germany afterwards.
He’s been a great addition for Forge FC, who have also signed the likes of Noah Jensen and Marko Jevemrovic to new deals this months, amongst others. With David Choiniere having left for FC Supra and Beni Badibanga presumably leaving after the expiry of his contract, the side will still need to retool its attack with some fresh legs.
