After Long Saga, Triston Henry Leaves Forge FC
Update: Triston Henry has officially signed with Memphis 901, the club we reported he had sought a move to before his dispute with Forge.
One of the Canadian Premier League’s biggest transfer sagas has officially come to an end.
After helping Forge FC secure four league titles in the build-up to 2024, we reported that Triston Henry’s unexpected absence from preseason camp was related to a dispute wherein Henry had wished to secure a move south of the border to retain his US green card status.

After a move to Memphis 901 failed to come to fruition, Henry did not attend preseason camp with Forge and has been absent from the club all season. While Forge has remained relatively quiet in regards to what it called a personal matter, it has now officially released the two-time Golden Glove winner.
“Triston played a significant role in our successes over the past five seasons and we would like to thank him for his commitment and the unforgettable moments he helped create,” said head coach and sporting director Bobby Smyrniotis.
“We wish Triston all the best in his future endeavours and know he will always be a part of the Forge family.”
Triston Henry – who took to social media to lambast our reporting of the events – said it was time for a new chapter, though he wishes the club nothing but the best.
“I’d like to extend my greatest gratitude and appreciation to the fans, players, coaching staff, ownership, and the city of Hamilton,” added Henry, “It’s been an amazing and successful five years with memories I will cherish forever.”
It remains unclear if Triston, who turns 31 in September, will continue his professional sporting career south of the border. Given his exploits in Canada’s top flight, one imagines there’d be several sides interested in his services during the transfer window.
Henry was a club original with Forge FC, tallying an incredible 142 appearances and 51 clean sheets for the side, including in eighteen of the club’s previous continental matches prior to this year’s transfer dispute.

Forge has found a strong successor in understudy Christopher Kalongo, with the team also bringing in former LAFC2 shotstopper Jassem Koleilat this season.
Within the hour of his departure from Forge, Memphis 901 – whom we reported Triston had sought a move to in the offseason – has officially signed the goalkeeper to a multi-year deal, pending league and federation approval.

Why would he go to Memphis, who has 3 GKs already, one being a former MLSer in Tyler Deric? Is Deric leaving?
