Mahala Opoku Signs New Deal With CF Montreal
This Monday morning saw CF Montreal announce that they had signed Kwadwo Mahala Opoku to a brand new deal. The new deal goes until 2026 with an option year which brings it to 2027.
Opoku was traded from LAFC on July 5th for $1,650,000 in 2023 GAM money and $100,000 in 2024 GAM money.
Since arriving in Montreal, the forward earned two starts playing 121 minutes and scoring the game-winning goal against Charlotte, while also playing 77 minutes against Pumas UNAM in their Leagues Cup opener.
He won the MLS Cup back in 2022 with LAFC and in three and half seasons with the club, the 21-year-old played 60 regular season games which included 35 starts, and played 3, 254 minutes.
Opoku scored nine goals and seven assists while adding a goal in the MLS playoffs which he scored against Austin FC in the Western Conference Final.
Before arriving in North America, he scored 29 goals in 64 games with the Attram De Visser Soccer Academy. On the international stage with Ghana, he has played at the U-17 and U-20 African Cup of Nations.
