Pacific Unveils End-Of-Season Roster Update
Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC is poised to end the calendar year with just thirteen players from its current squad returning, though five players still have club options being considered or have fallen out of contract as a potential return is negotiated.
The Tridents have declined options on Dario Zanatta, Daniel De Pauli, Daniel Zadravec, Ahmad Mansour, and Emanuel Montejano, who will all become free agents on January 1, 2026.
In turn, club exercised its options on veteran goalkeeper Sean Melvin, defender Christian Greco-Taylor, and their 2025 newcomer of the year Yann Toualy, leaving the Pacific 2026 roster as follows:
Goalkeeper: Sean Melvin
Defenders: Christian Greco-Taylor, Juan Quintana, Kadin Chung
Midfielders: Sean Young, Aidan Daniels, Matteo Schiavoni, Yann Toualy, Sami Keshavarz
Forwards: Marco Bustos, Josh Heard, Ronan Kratt, Alejandro Diaz
It’s worth noting that Mexican striker forward Alejandro Diaz, who re-joined the club on loan from rival side Vancouver FC midseason, has signed a two-year deal with the Tridents keeping him in the Isle through to 2027. His loan from Vancouver FC had included an option to make his stay at Pacific permanent, though it’s unclear what it took to trigger this option.
The club is still considering its options in Matthew Baldisimo, Lukas Browning-Lagerfelt, and Roshawn Juhmi, while key talents Aly Ndom – Pacific’s player of the year – and Georges Mukumbilwa are out of contract.
The HFX Football Post reported that Ndom is considering his options between the CPL and USL.
The Tridents are coming off from a campaign that head coach James Merriman surmised as being a tough one, with the Vancouver Isle side missing playoffs as it struggled to find consistency in front of net.
The club finished seventh overall, marking a low note for the club as owner SixFive Sports And Entertainment seeks out a buyer. The current ownership group also run Vancouver FC, who finished eighth.
Pacific also had a tough spell of injuries this year, with Ronan Kratt and Juan Quintana missing most of the season through ACL injuries, with Browning-Lagerfelt joining the season-ending injury list in the fall.
“Pacific FC looks ahead to the upcoming season with confidence, continued belief in its core group, and excitement for the new additions that will help shape the next chapter,” reads a release from the club.
Of the thirteen players locked in to return, five were with the side in its title-winning season in 2021: Kadin Chung, Marco Bustos, Josh Heard, Sean Young, and Alejandro Diaz. Three of them left the club after that season but returned this year.
The club has also retained its U SPORTS rights for defenders Eric Lajeunesse and Fin Tugwell, who could land contracts in 2026.
