Toronto FC Signs Defender Henry Wingo
Toronto FC has just announced it’s first signing of the secondary transfer window: American defender Henry Wingo from Seattle, who’s most recent playing stint was with Ferencvarosi in Hungary.
The signing of the American defender goes through 2026 with an option for 2027. Toronto FC acquired Wingo’s Discovery Rights in a trade with D.C United in exchange for $75,000 in 2025 general allocation money.
Wingo joins the Reds after a four year stint at Ferencvarosi Torna Club in Hungary, where Henry marked down over 100 appearances. During his time with Ferencvarosi he won a total of five titles – four Nemzeti Bajnoksag, and one Hungarian Cup.
His earlier years of playing started with three years spent at the University of Washington before he signed his homegrown contract with the Seattle Sounders back in 2017.
With the Sounders Wingo made 22 appearances in the MLS then 31 USL appearances with the Tacoma Defiance before making the move to Norway side Molded FK in 2019 where he won the Norwegian title and then joined the Ferencvarosi in 2021.
The secondary transfer window opened on July 12th and will run through until deadline date August 8th in Canada.
