For the second time this season Toronto FC took on Atlanta United, this time on Atlanta’s home turf.

Earlier this season Toronto FC defeated Atlanta at BMO field with a score line finishing in 2-0. This time, however; it was a 2-1 loss away from home

With Toronto struggling to get the results as they are six games winless.

TFC head coach John Herdman pushed for everything this game but despite the efforts the Reds fell short 2-1.

Home side Atlanta United opened the scoring in the additional added time in the first half. Thiago Almada found the back of the net before the first half whistle was blown.

Federico Bernardeschi would score Toronto’s sole goal of the night right off the bat in the 46th minute to equalize things just after the second half got underway.

In what seemed to be a draw on the road for the Reds, eight minutes of added time saw the home side sneak in the winning goal.

With keeper Luka Gavran ready to send the ball deep down the field, Jamal Thiare sneakily stood behind Gavran stole the ball and shot it, ending the hope of leaving Atlanta with a point on the road.

With the tonight’s result it all points back to the point Coach Herdman made a week ago on the recent pattern of the team losing after conceding late in the game.

“We have a real problem with these last 30 minutes of games and unless we fix that we’re going to find ourselves in a tough spot,” he says. “All our attention, all our focus is going to be on finishing strong.”

With another late loss all the attention goes back to the real problem the final 30 minutes of the game the team struggles to hold on.

Toronto FC’s next game will be at home on Wednesday as they take on Orlando City for the second time this season, and they’ll look to close out the series sweep.
