To start Toronto FC’s two-game road trip, the Reds first headed down south to Philadelphia. Toronto took a point on the road as the match finished 0-0 at Subaru Park.

The game featured a almost shared equal number of possession with Toronto FC pushing ahead by 4% with a total of 52% to Philadelphia Union’s 48%.

Other then the shared possession being a main component for these two teams on the night, another huge factor was that both keepers played a major role in keeping the game the final score line it is.

With this draw the Philadelphia Union extended its shutout streak to three games, while TFC keeper Sean Johnson hit a huge milestone in keeping a clean sheet as this clean sheet marks the one hundredth of his career, making him the fourth keeper in MLS history to tally 100 clean sheets in MLS action.

Sean Johnson made a number of saves to reach the milestone tonight, yet his most notable one came in the 51st minute as he made a quick reaction save after a pass from Kai Wagner found Alejandro Bedoya, who’s header came in from close range. Johnson came up big and denied the home team from breaking the deadlock and scoring the opening goal.

Toronto FC also came knocking but opposition goalkeeper Oliver Semmle denied Federico Bernardeschi from assisting a goal after the Italian coming back from a one game suspension due to yellow card accumulation.

Toronto FC was without fellow Italian DP Lorenzo Insigne as the club announced a few hours before kick off that he will miss tonight’s game, with the forward having flown home to Naples to be with his wife and family for the birth of their third child.

Toronto FC and head coach John Herdman will now head to DC to wrap up the short road trip and will hope to close it on a positive note before a two week break begins.
