After some mid-week Canadian Championship action saw the Reds advance to the semi-finals after scoring a club and tournament record of eight goals in the Tuesday win over semi-pro CS Saint-Laurent at BMO Field, it’s now time for the next match up.

The Reds now face a tougher test as they welcome Cincinnati (9-2-3), the 2023 Supporters’ Shield winners , who arrive in rich form on a six game winning streak. They’ll be eager to keep the streak going in some capacity as the two teams first meet up this season was in their 2024 MLS season opener where TFC earned a point on the road.

The Reds have also been on their own run as they advanced to the semi-finals of the Canadian Championship just this mid-week and have won seven of it lasts nine games in all competitions, with the last MLS win being the 5-1 win over Canadian rivals CF Montreal.

Yet this weekend’s matchup against FC Cincinnati, who stands second overall in the MLS, will serve the Reds a bigger test to continue the impressive run they currently have going. Toronto FC will have to do it without star player Federico Bernardeschi, who has been nothing but exceptional for the Reds this 2024 season. He misses the game due to yellow card accumulation, while Shane O’Neill and Brandon Servania remain on the injured list.

TFC captain Jonathan Osorio and centre/back Kevin Long are deemed available for this matchup, while Richie Laryea is only likely return starting next week.

Coach Herdman will definitely look to keep the impressive run going in front of yet another home crowd after two-back-to-back home game wins in all competitions this up against FC Cincinnati kickoff is set for 7:30PM EST.
