Atletico Ottawa Re-Signs Defender Tyr Duhaney-Walker
Canadian Premier League champion Atletico Ottawa has confirmed it has re-signed local defender Tyr Duhaney-Walker on a new two-year deal.
The Russel, Ontario native first joined the side as a 19-year-old prospect after impressing during preseason camp in Spain, now having racked up 45 appearances through all competitions since joining in 2023.
The 22-year-old made twenty appearances for the side through its title-winning season, coming on as a late substitute in the club’s 2025 CPL Final victory over Cavalry FC.

“Tyr is a great example for young players in this city and proof that there is a pathway for homegrown talent to succeed at the highest level of professional soccer in Canada,” says Atletico Ottawa General Manager JD Ulanowski, who describes the defender as a vital piece of the club’s defensive core heading into the 2026 CPL season.

Atletico Ottawa finished second overall in the regular season before triumphing in playoffs last year, having finished with the second-least goals conceded out of any side behind Forge FC.
It’s been a great week for Atletico Ottawa defenders, with centre-back Noah Abatneh earning a call to the Canadian national team ahead of a January friendly against Guatemala.
“Representing my hometown again is special and something I’m really proud of,” says Duhaney-Walker, who says Atletico Ottawa has played a huge role in his development.
The Atletico Ottawa roster now stands fifteen players deep, with understudy goalkeeper Tristan Crampton having signed a new deal just yesterday.
Atletico Ottawa will be back in action in under one month as it prepares to participate in its first-ever continental cup match against MLS side Nashville SC.
