Canada’s newest football club is adding its proverbial building blocks before it introduces itself in the 2026 Canadian Premier League season.

Today, FC Supra du Quebec has announced the appointment of Montreal native Nick De Santis as the club’s executive advisor, formally becoming the first formal addition made by Club President and co-founder Rocco Placentino.

With De Santis having spent over ten years in a leadership role with the Montreal Impact – and having helped their transition from a USL to MLS – his arrival looks to paint a strong start for the Quebecois club. De Santis will also serve as a member of FC Supra’s Board of Directors.

The 58-year-old De Santis has suited up for the CSL-era Montreal Supra some ninety times between 1988 and 1992, during which time he made his national team debut for Les Rouges. His playing career saw him move on to represent the Montreal Impact (now CF Montreal) well, making over 200 professional appearances between 1993-1998 and 2000-2003.

His subsequent managerial career saw him lead the Impact for four seasons, collecting a championship win on his debut coaching campaign and two regular season titles thereafter. We had reported FC Supra was seriously interested in De Santis as a coaching candidate, with the former international instead joining the club in an executive role.

As the FC Supra executive advisor, De Santis will work with the club’s leadership, technical staff, and external partners to both bring long-term success on the field but efficiency to its sporting operations club-wide, too. In a statement, the club says that his appointment supports the FC Supra mission to bring the best of Quebec soccer to the national stage and beyond.

“Joining FC Supra at this pivotal stage is exciting, and I’m thrilled to contribute to the club’s growth and long-term impact,” says De Santis. “There’s tremendous potential here and I look forward to working with the team to bring the club’s mission and vision to life.”

De Santis had been CF Montreal’s technical director from 2008-2011 before changing his role to the club’s sporting director from 2011-2014, with the club claiming Canadian Championship wins in 2008 and 2013. He later became the club’s director of international business development and vice president of international relations and technical development before opting to leave the side in 2019.

“With more than 20 years of experience at the professional level, Nick brings a level of knowledge, leadership, and vision that will undoubtedly elevate our club,” says Rocco Placentino. “His passion and love for the game are truly indescribable, you feel it the moment you speak with him. I’m looking forward to working alongside him in his capacity as Executive Advisor for Supra, as his mentorship over the years has been a true source of inspiration.”

The newborn Canadian Premier League side is set to host tryouts throughout Montreal next month, with the club confirming that head coach news, player signings, and pre-season plans are all slated to be announced in the coming weeks.
