The first look at a 2026 Canadian Premier League kit – and the first collaboration between the league and its new kit provider Hummel – has come a little early thanks to Forge FC.

The Hamilton, Ontario-based club has unveiled a first look at its Member-exclusive third choice kit that pays homage to the Hamilton Steelers, a team that featured in the Canadian Soccer League from 1981 to 1992.

The black-and-orange kit will be worn for two matches throughout the 2026 Canadian Premier League season.

The alternate look will introduce fans to the circular Hamilton Crest over the heart of the kit, incorporating the Hamilton flag and the steel chains that resonate with the city’s industrial history. The orange chest band itself is a direct homage to the Hamilton Steelers, who adorned a similar style during their tenure in the city. The Steelers used to play from Brian Timmis Stadium, where the public square for Hamilton Stadium is now located.

The white collar shown in the design contrasts nicely with the rest of the kit, with the phrase “Together We Forge” repeated throughout the inside of it in reflection of the collective energy from both the supporters and the club itself.

A Forge FC Member badge will also be sitting prominently on the nape of the kit.

This isn’t the first time Forge FC has done a third choice alternate kit, with the Hammers donning a black-and-gold kit for select matches in the their inaugural season.

The Hammers will enter the 2026 Canadian Premier League season hungry to restore the status quo after missing out the CPL Playoff Final for the first time in team history. While the club has re-signed several key figures, club original David Choiniere has joined FC Supra and Swedish midfielder-turned-defender Alexander Achinioti-Jonsson is still considering his options. It isn’t all outbound news, however, with club original Daniel Krutzen stepping out of retirement to rejoin the side.

Forge is the first club to reveal look at kits for the 2026 season, with Northern Tribune hearing that the league may be cooking up World Cup theme alternate kits for each team this year, though the primary kits will remain more unique for each team. With Macron having done a strong job through the league’s first six seasons, it’ll be interesting to see how Hummel carries on the torch through 2026 and beyond.
