The Saturday evening matchup at BMO Field saw Toronto FC host Nashville SC, marking TFC’s 600th MLS regular season game in club history.

The game was a close matchup with both sides trying to create chances but struggling to have shots on target, though the action would switch up in the second half.

Toronto’s first shot on target in the game would come in the 53rd minute as Lorenzo Insigne would send a cross into the Nashville penalty box, that would find Ola Brynhildsen. He would convert it into a spectacular bicycle kick, yet goalkeeper Joe Willis would make the save keeping the game 0-0.

Just minutes after, Nashville would break the deadlock following Andy Najar sending a long ball to Hany Mukhtar, who made the run behind the Reds’ defence. He would then lodge the ball across the goal and Surridge would net his seventh goal of the season.

Surridge would later score his brace in the 89th minute after finding some space between Toronto’s defensive line.

Toronto would not let Nashville leave with both the three points and the clean sheet as captain Jonathan Osorio, freshly returned from injury, would score his 50th career regular-season goal a minute into stoppage time through a powerful strike from outside the penalty box. The goal marked a big return from suffering a partially dislocated shoulder injury back on April 30.

“It kind of sucks. I wish it could have been a game winning goal or at least game-tying goal to get a result,” said Osorio, who scored his 50th regular season goal and 67 goals in all competitions for TFC.

The result did not go in the favour for Toronto FC, but the side has a couple more chances this week as they started their three-game homestead in eight days.

The Reds will be back in action for some mid-week action in the MLS as they are set to host the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday set for 7:30 p.m, EST.
