Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC is bringing Romanian attacking midfielder Andrei Tircoveanu to Starlight Stadium, with the 26-year-old bringing an intriguing profile to the isle.

The Romanian has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with a club option for a further season.

The 26-year-old spent the last three seasons with FC Botosani, tallying 67 appearances for the Romanian top flight side while contributing four goals and five assists before embarking on a short-lived move to FC Arges in an attempt to save them from relegation.

That didn’t pan out, with Andrei now taking his first steps abroad with Pacific FC – a club which needs some attacking flourish in midfield following the departure of Manny Aparicio.

“Andrei has a high technical pedigree and has played more than 140 games at the highest levels in Romania,” says Pacific boss James Merriman. “He has won promotions and championships and brings his ambition to a new challenge with us here at Pacific.”

Tircoveanu rose through the academy ranks of FC Dinamo Bucharest, where he turned professional and featured in the club’s Romanian League Cup win back in 2016. He underwent two loan spells with CS Gaz Metan Medias, who he helped win the second division.

After that he completed a move to Romanian top flight side FCV Farul Constanta, where he only made seven appearances but picked up two trophies, riding the bench for their Super Cup win and featuring once for them on the road to their prior Romanian Cup win.

Pacific’s new midfielder was then loaned to second division side CS Concordia Chiajna, making ten appearances before his loan finished and he moved to Bostani, recording 674 appearances for them ahead of his final Romanian stop in FC Arges.

The new Trident had also featured for Romania at the youth ranks, but never broke through at the senior level.

The club’s attack will also be reinforced by Trinidad and Tobago striker Reon Moore, while the midfield contingent will also see promotion-experienced international arrive in Aly Ndom.
