Pacific Poised To Bring In ‘Massive Addition’ Today

Pacific FC fans will want to keep watch today: head coach James Merriman has teased that a ‘massive addition’ to the club roster will be unveiled today.

The Tridents have seen several in and several out in what has been a busy offseason, with the likes of Callum Irving and Marco Bustos highlighting the departures, while high-profile names like Easton Ongaro and Adonijah Reid have come in. Today’s announcement, say sources close to the club, is being teased as an all-time great.

In a conversation with The Third Sub, Merriman revealed that he’s worked with the club’s incoming signing before, describing him as a massive addition to the team in terms of both performance and impact, but also in terms of the locker room – suggesting a veteran addition to the squad.

Merriman, 37, has held the head coach role at Pacific FC ever since Pa-Modou Kah departed after helping the side to a North Star Shield in 2021. The Nanaimo-born gaffer has worked with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Simon Fraser University before, so we expect today’s announcement to be someone with professional playing experience on the west coast.

The last Pacific FC player announcement saw Portuguese forward David Brazao arrive to the Isle, though today’s announcement will likely be more seasoned than the 21-year-old.

Whoever it winds up being, fans won’t have long to wait to see them in action: Pacific will kick off its fifth-ever season with a home match against new neighbours Vancouver FC on April 15.
