Did Pacific’s Kit Just Get Leaked?
No club has revealed its new kits for the 2023 Canadian Premier League season just yet, but a football fan in Barcelona may have stumbled upon one in the wild.
The fan was quick to post it on Twitter, where anyone can now take a look at what may truly be the isle’s home threads for 2023:
The fact that there’s a CIBC logo on the kit sleeve lends credence to the legitimacy, with the bank recently inking a multi-year with the league that will see its logo placed on CPL kit sleeves league-wide.
However, we’ve heard that the kit shown is in fact a prototype kit design by the club – so there’s no telling how different the official kit will look.
The geometric spin on the club’s traditional purple is certainly a believable successor to last year’s Douglas fir tree needle pattern, though if the kit is real it looks like Pacific has dropped the idea of a silver North Star to reflect its league title from 2021.
Later on in the day, the prototype Pacific kit was also found on the Futbolmania website, where a better look at the front’s bear design can be seen. It also remains to be seen what fans think of the club’s decision to go from white to gold in terms of its sponsor and Macron insignia, but overall it looks like the club has put together quite a sharp kit.
Canadian Premier League clubs aren’t expected to reveal their kits until March, so how multiple legitimate-looking Pacific kits showed up at a store in Barcelona remains to be seen.
