For the first time this 2024 MLS campaign, the Canadian Classique kicks off at BMO Field with the Reds hosting Canadian rivals CF Montreal (3-6-3, 12pts).

The Reds currently sit in sixth place in the eastern place with a record of (6-6-1, 19pts). A win is definitely on the agenda for the Reds and for many reasons, the first being the eagerness the squad has expressed to return into the winning ways as recent losses to both New York City and Nashville SC.

The second reason being that a win is always wanted when going up against an opponent like CF Montreal. Toronto FC currently hold a 14W-14L-5D in their first 33 meetings with CF Montreal in the regular MLS action. At BMO Field, the Reds hold a 6W-5L-4D record in regular season action.

Rivals CF Montreal head into this matchup on a recent string of losses as well, with the 3-1 loss to the Columbus Crew and former head coach Wilfred Nancy being the most recent loss, so they will also be in search of looking to get a win and with a stage like the Canadian Classique the players will be even more eager.

Toronto FC will be without Richie Laryea, who still slowly coming back from injury and has some games left in his suspension. Shane O’Neill and Brandon Servania are ruled out, with Kevin Long and captain Jonathan Osorio listed as questionable, while Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty was seen in training and could be seen with some playing time against CF Montreal of Coach Herdman see’s fit.

The Reds are with Coach Herdman back in the sidelines after he served a one game suspension which was picked up after the NYCFC game. He’ll want nothing more than to come out on top in the 34th regular season Canadian Classique.
