Toronto FC Lose Lead, Drop 2-1 Result To Nashville

It was a match where Toronto FC coach John Herdman and player Matty Longstaff wanted to put out a better showing at home, but the Reds fell to Nashville once again for the second time this season.

Toronto’s loss at BMO Field tonight now makes them winless in their last five league fixtures, while Nashville SC has only lost one of their last six games since their first win against Toronto FC stretching back to May 15.

Host side Toronto FC opened the scoring in the 34th minute as Alonso Coello slotted it past Joe Willis.

Yet Toronto FC would be unable to hold onto the lead or extend it as Sam Surridge would score a brace to hand his team the three points on the road and hand Toronto FC their nineth loss of the MLS 2024 campaign.

Surridge’s first goal comes in the 65th minute as he would strike it in the far right post equalizing things for Nashville.

His brace would come in the dying moments of the game in the 90th minute and in style through a back heel goal to seal the away win.

Toronto FC and Coach Herdman will search for answers to turn things around while on the road as a short trip begins for them on Saturday, where they will head to New York to take on the NY Red Bulls then head to Atlanta United to wrap the short road trip.
