While things got off to a pretty impressive start for Toronto FC under newly-appointed head coach John Herdman, the Reds have fallen through the cracks and have dropped down to seventh in the Eastern Conference. The side is currently winless in its last four league games stemming back all the way from May 25.

The recent 4-1 home loss to Chicago Fire was a disappointing one that left Coach Herdman in emotions of frustration and disappointment after the game.

“I’m emotional about this one, I’ve never been this disappointed in the thirty years of my coaching career,” said John Herdman after the loss. “We were too soft. We’ve gotta be harder to beat at home.”

Player Matty Longstaff also spoke to the media following the loss and said that the performance displayed was nowhere near the high standards they have set and that they just need to be a lot better.

Coach Herdman and his squad will be given a home matchup once again to prove what he and the team have been growing and working on to make the clubharder to beat at home.

The TFC boss will have the chance to avoid getting swept in the series against Nashville SC as they have already lost to them away in what was a full shutdown when Nashville SC handed Toronto a 2-0 loss on the road. He will do so with the return of both Federico Bernardeschi and Nicksoen Gomis back in the squad after serving a one-game suspension due to red cards received in the D.C. United game.

Toronto will be without Tyrese Spicer, who is listed as questionable with a back issue, and Jonathan Osorio, Richie Laryea, Sean Johnson all remain on international duty for the Copa America comeptition set to kickoff Thursday night. Shane O’Neill and Brandon Servania remain on the injury list.

Toronto FC will look to turn things around against a club that has already defeated them earlier in the season, but now Nashville SC does it without longtime coach Gary Smith who was recently fired. The current interim coach for Nashville is player development coach Rumba Munthali.

The circumstances of a couple of missing players and recent drop in performances will make things tricky yet the Reds and Coach Herdman are determined to improve and the test continues with tonight against Nashville.

Catch the action tonight kickoff at 7:30PM EST.
