Toronto FC headed to sunny Florida after a mid-week win in the Canadian Championship for a return to Major League Soccer action. The Reds would find themselves winning it away through a couple of late goals to take home all three points in a 2-1 comeback win.

Orlando City seemed headed into yet another win against the Reds after Duncan McGuire – who scored a brace at BMO Field last year – knocked in a strike in the 37th minute to give his home side the first half goal.

Yet a late Federico Bernardeschi long ball would find Kobe Franklin on the right, and his cross would not slip away as MLS Super draft Tyrese Spicer would level the score in the 87th minute.

A couple of minutes later German forward Prince Owusu would score his fifth goal in his last four games across all competitions after heading in a lovely cross in from Bernardeschi.

Orlando had many other scoring opportunities to extend their lead, yet Toronto FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson came up big with multiple saves his most notable save comes from denying Facundo Torres from scoring a low but powerfully struck ball from making it 2-0 in the 73rd minute.

With this 2-1 comeback win Toronto has snaped an eight-game winless streak against Orlando, which dates back to 2019.

Newly acquired winger Derrick Etienne Jr. also saw his first minutes in red as he was subbed into the game in the 58th minute replacing Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty.

Toronto’s next game will be next Saturday up at home as they host FC Dallas.
