In what was a non-Eastern Conference matchup on the road for the Reds, the team visited Dick’s Sporting Goods Park to take on the Colorado Rapids for the first time since 2021.

The playoff chase is on the line for the Reds, with a mere number of games remaining in the regular season of play left. Every match and point retrieved is vital to the team’s chances of making it to the post season.

The Reds began the first half with them holding it down defensively against the Rapids with a couple of missed chances in the mix as well. Yet, the game all came down during the second 45 minute of play.

TFC head coach John Herdman would make a number of substitutions as he would sub in a couple of the starters into the mix in hopes of creating some chances. However, it would be the home team to find the net, doing so i nthe 52nd minute as Reggie Cannon would score in his home debut game with the Rapids, giving his team the 1-0 lead early on into the second half.

The Colorado Rapids would seal the three points after a penalty was given in the 90th minute of play. Former CF Montreal man Dorde Mihailovic would convert from the spot and in style of a panenka to make it 2-0.

With the final whistle coming not long after, the Reds now find themselves on now back-to-back losses in the league. The pressure is most certainly on TFC as they remain in one of the wild-card playoff match positions, yet many of the teams behind Toronto are in point-reach and have a game in hand as well.

The Reds’ next matchup in the league is against the Chicago Fire, where the Reds will look to avoid a series sweep, as their first encounter this MLS campaign ended with the Fire taking a 4-1 win at BMO Field.

Before they head to SeatGeek Stadium the Reds have a championship title on the line mid-week as they are set to head to BC Place to take on Vancouver in the Canadian Championship Final on Wednesday evening.
