This Friday afternoon Vancouver FC released its newest primary kit, and it’s one that pays homage to the club’s mascot and the local community as well.

“We are very excited to unveil VFC’s primary kit for the 2024 season,” said Stephanie Wood, Vice President of Marketing & Brand Development for Vancouver FC.

“This kit is powerful to us because it is the embodiment of our inspiration, the Bald Eagle, and the qualities of respect, honour, strength, courage, and wisdom that we have founded this club around.”

It’s all black base with red accents also dons their previous sponsors of CIBC along the front, and Carlsberg on the sleeves. The showstopper, however, is the cape of feathers that, starting from the shoulders, goes all along back of the jersey.

“The Eagle Kit is named adequately for the exquisite feathered cape design that drapes down the back of jerseys,” explains Wood. “It is a subtle but essential part of the jersey that reminds us to be grounded in our roots and the foundations of what we built this club around.”

Not only does it represent their mascot of the Bald Eagle, the iconic bird that frequents the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, but also to the Indigenous community and territory on which the club and its facilities reside upon.

“The Eagle is a respected and honoured creator that was bestowed to our club by the Kwantlen Nation with our mascot bearing the name gifted to it, Sp’óq’es,” remarked Wood. “We are representing our communities with the Eagle Kit this season and are committed to upholding the qualities of the Bald Eagle both on and off the field.”

The Eagles will debut their new primary kits in a preseason friendly match against BC-based rivals Pacific FC on Saturday, with the match set to take place in Nanaimo, BC.

The alternate kit will also be revealed in the coming weeks.
