Trade: Brett Levis Joins Detroit City FC

Former Valour left-back Brett Levis will spend the latter half of the season in new threads after being traded by FC Tulsa.

The Saskatchewan native was a regular feature for Valour before he joined Moses Dyer down in Tulsa, having featured in 45 appearances his the Winnipeg team over three seasons.

After missing Tulsa’s season opener against Miami, he went on to feature in nine straight matches before finding himself out of the lineup since mid-May.

His move to the Motor City comes as part of a multi-player trade that sees DCFC send Tommy McGabe to Tulsa in exchange for Dario Sanchez, Brett Levis, and undisclosed (but likely significant) cash considerations.

Levis, 30, arrived as an interesting option for DCFC: he cracked the 2022 CPL team of the year, but couldn’t quite lock in a starting position with Tulsa. Dyer, meanwhile, has appeared in all fourteen matches, but only four of them came in 90 minute spells.

The left-back began his career with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2013, where he was converted from a midfield role to a full-back with the Whitecaps 2, pushing a young Jordan Haynes out of the squad back then. In a twist of hate, Haynes would go on to replace Levis in the Valour roster following his move stateside.

FC Tulsa finds itself in eighth place out of twelve in the Eastern Conference, with just 13 points after that just as many matches played.
